Several Upstate BI-LO stores to become Food Lions, store officials say

Sixteen Upstate and Western North Carolina BI-LO stores will become Food Lions, after being bought out by the company, officials say.

Officials with Food Lion say they are in the process of buying 62 BI-LO stores across the Carolinas and Georgia.

The stores will remain open as BI-LO until the transaction is complete, which is expected to happen over a staggered period from January to April 2021.

Food Lion officials say they will have more than 4,650 associate positions to serve customers.

We're told BI-LO employees will not automatically be transferred to Food Lion positions and will need to go through a hiring process.

According to a news release, Food Lion will be served by ADUSA Distribution, LLC, through the Mauldin distribution center, once the transaction is complete.
