Zeta makes landfall in Mexico; strong winds, flood risk expected locally

Hurricane Zeta made landfall early Tuesday as a Category 1 storm just north of Tulum, Mexico. It now has sights set on handing another blow to the storm-weary central Gulf Coast and bringing heavy rain to the Carolinas.

Hurricane Zeta will continue northbound this week making landfall along the Gulf coast late Wednesday.

Chris said Zeta will interact with a strong cold front and move very quickly toward our area Wednesday night and Thursday. Chris says the fast movement will allow Zeta to maintain strength where tropical storm force winds between 40-60 mph will be possible Thursday across the area.

Chris said severe weather will also be a concern with isolated tornadoes possible.
