SLED is telling us that that shooting occured this morning (Thursday) around 2am. A patient who was fleeing the Laurens County Hospital fired a shot and struck a Greenville Health Authority policeman who returned fire and struck the man. We're told that at this hour (8am) both are in surgery and there's no word on their conditions. No one else was injured in the incident.
