2 Upstate school districts announce transition to daily, in-person classes

ome students in Spartanburg Districts Five and District 6 will begin a gradual transition to full face-to-face learning, five days a week, beginning in late September, according to the district's website.

Both District 5 and District 6 made the announcement to staff, parents and families on their websites.

For Spartanburg District 5 Schools:

Students in 4K, K5, and first grade will transition first, beginning on Sept. 28, the district said.

Students in second, third and fourth grade will follow, returning to campus five days a week, beginning Oct. 5.

Intermediate, middle and high school students will remain on the hybrid schedule, for now, officials said.

"We believe wholeheartedly that face-to-face instruction is what's best for students, and we've selected a plan that gets us near that goal, in a safe and responsible manner," Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary said.
