I remember the year 1979. I was working at WSOC-FM in Charlotte and we were hosting this new group who cut their teeth at The Bowrey in Myrtle Beach. It was pouring down rain and we thought they'd cancel. Nope. They delivered for the 100 or so who were there. Alabama is, without question, one of the greatest bands in any genre. It was a pleasure to have been given the opportunity to catch up with them over the years. Jeff Cook's guitar influence in their sound will live on. Jeff Cook was 73.
