It's just the coolest story. I can't think of another professional sport where one team has to fill a roster spot at the last minute from someone in attendance. David Ayers is the Zamboni guy at Scotia Bank Arena in Toronto, the home ice of the Maple Leafs. The Carolina Hurricanes needed an emergency back up goalie and so the found out that the 42 year old had some skills and offered him $500 to take to the ice. As we know by now, he did and it was a pretty remarkable thing to see!
