Whistle 100.5 - The Carolinas' #1 For New Country!

Kenny Rogers Has Died

By Bill Ellis
Mar 21, 2020

What a force he was. What an amazing career. I was in country radio when he came our way in 1978 with "The Gambler". One minute, he was the guy who did those "Learn the Guitar by Numbers" infomercials and the next he was at the top of the country charts. Family said be had been in failing health for a while and passed away last night. The Gambler may have folded but the legend lives on.
