SC governor issues 'home or work order' for residents

Greenville

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster issued a statewide mandate for residents to stay at home to help fight the spread of the coronavirus. It goes into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 7.

McMaster called it a 'home or work' order. He said it means that everyone should stay at home unless they are working, visiting family, exercising or obtaining essential goods.

Those who disobey the order can face a misdemeanor criminal charge with up to 30 days in jail and/or $100 fine for each day of violation, the governor said.
