Will South Carolina students return to school this year?

A decision will be announced this week on whether students in South Carolina will return to the classroom this year.

State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman told WIS-TV this morning that she and Gov. Henry McMaster are working together on a plan that will be in the best interest of the students and faculty.

McMaster announced in March that schools will remain closed until the end of April.

Spearman described the e-learning that has now been in place for six weeks as “going well.”

“I can’t say thank you enough to the teachers and the parents and the students for all the great work you have done,” Spearman said. It has been difficult on all of us. I think everyone is stressed out. I think the month of April probably felt like two or three years for some of us.”
