South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman will make an announcement today at 11 a.m.
On Monday Spearman said she and McMasterwere working together on a plan that will be in the best interest of the students and faculty.
“I can’t say thank you enough to the teachers and the parents and the students for all the great work you have done,” Spearman said. It has been difficult on all of us. I think everyone is stressed out. I think the month of April probably felt like two or three years for some of us.”
Spearman said there are some students they have not heard from and she asked the students and parents to reach out to their teachers.
“You’re not just going to get a grade because we are out of school,” Spearman told WIS-TV. “You need to do your work and you need to try to do your best.”
Spearman said the superintendents in the state were recently surveyed and overwhelming they said, “they don’t think it’s in our best interest to go back to school.”
