Two Upstate school districts announce high school graduation plans

Oconee County

"The School District of Oconee County is still planning for in-person graduations for seniors if at all possible considering the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

Ceremonies will be moved from Littlejohn Coliseum to the football stadium at each high school.

Please note that there may have to be restrictions on the number of guests for each graduate so that social distancing guidelines can be followed. We will make an announcement confirming the actual date as soon as it is possible to do so."

Anderson County

"The 2020 Graduation Ceremonies for T.L. Hanna High and Westside High will be streamed live May 21, 2020 from Newspring Church in Anderson at the following times:

• 10:00 AM – Westside High

• 2:00 PM – T.L. Hanna High

"To maintain social distancing orders and to ensure the health and safety of our graduates and our community, Seniors will will be spaced every fourth chair and no guests will be allowed inside of the ceremony. As with all graduation ceremonies, this ceremony will be available for viewing in real-time via livestream, and will also be video recorded. Dates, times and details for the 2020 Graduation Ceremonies for Anderson Five Charter School and Adult Education Center are forthcoming.

"Anderson Five understands that this is in no way ideal. However, it is the best opportunity we have to provide a safe and memorable ceremony for our graduates. We sincerely empathize and share in the feelings of disappointment with the Class of 2020, and we understand that nothing can replace or compensate for the full graduation experience in which they have long awaited. However, we are thankful to have an alternative solution in place that grants them an experience as close as absolutely possible, and we look forward to STILL being able to celebrate the truly honorable Classes of 2020."
