Upstate church brings congregation back under the same roof

An Anderson church has once again opened up its doors to the congregation.

After about two weeks of compiling more than a dozen safety guidelines to maintain social distancing, Pastor Dale Dyar and other leaders of River of Life Church of God in Anderson welcomed a good number of members inside the church's auditorium Sunday morning.

Some of those guidelines included spacing groups throughout the auditorium, keeping members in their cars until ten minutes before service and escorting groups in and out one at a time to limit social interaction while inside.

"People are ready to get back together. They're ready to go back. I don't know if it will ever be normal, but (we want) some sense of normalcy to where I can come to church and we can practice social distancing (and) we don't have to stay at home," said Dyar.

Sunday marked the first time congregation members were able to meet inside in nine weeks. For the last five weeks, they met for service in the parking lot.
