Nearly 800 new cases of coronavirus announced Sunday, DHEC says

South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control officials announced 799 new cases of COVID-19 in the state Sunday, and one additional death.

A total of 18,795 people in South Carolina have been confirmed to have had coronavirus, and 600 people have died.

The number of new cases in the Upstate by county is listed below:

Abbeville (4), Anderson (25), Cherokee (1), Greenville (140), Greenwood (31), Laurens (11), Oconee (5), Pickens (15), Spartanburg (20), Union (1).

DHEC officials say 13.6% of tests performed Saturday were positive.

As of Sunday morning, DHEC says 67.19% of hospital beds are being used.

Of the 7,023 beds currently in use, 521 are occupied by people who are confirmed or suspected to have COVID-19.
