SC teen accused of sex trafficking arrested after standoff

A South Carolina teenager accused of sex trafficking was arrested after engaging in a standoff with authorities who were searching for a missing child, according to a sheriff’s office.

Daniel Korbin Sterling Thomas, 19, was taken into custody early Monday outside a Columbia home, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement Tuesday.

Deputies responded to the residence at about 3:30 a.m. after they were notified the missing child was inside, officials said. Thomas came out of the home and the child was later found in the house, according to the statement. No injuries were reported.

The teenager was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the sheriff’s office said.
