Founder of popular downtown Greenville restaurant dies suddenly

One of South Carolina's premier restaurateurs has died.

Bill Hall, founder of downtown Greenville's Halls Chophouse and Charleston's High Cotton and Slightly North of Broad, among others, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, according to Jim Wahlstrom, director of human resources and operations ofHall Management Group.

No other information about his death was released.

Wahlstrom said Hall's family, friends and colleagues are devastated, calling the loss a "shock."
