Gage’s on Augusta closes after 37 years

After nearly four decades in business, Gage’s will say its final goodbye this weekend. The brick-and-mortar boutique along Augusta Street in Greenville initially opened in 1984 as an invitation and stationary store, and soon came under ownership of Tiby Weinstein.

“There’s never been a time that I wasn’t involved in a store,” Weinstein said. “I grew up in a department store. My dad was the general manager of Meyers-Arnold, which was on Main Street.”

Fast forward to today, the business has evolved into selling gifts, home and body staples, accessories and jewelry, but remains close to its original mission of letter writing, invitations and stationary.
