Trooper injured while responding to accident involving pedestrian

A trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol was hit while responding to an accident, according to Lt. Ryan Flood with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

Flood said the initial crash involving a pedestrian happened just after midnight Saturday near the intersection of W. Blue Ridge Drive and Monaghan Avenue.

While conducting an investigation, a vehicle crashed into the trooper's vehicle.

The trooper sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The trooper was conscious and alert, officials said.
