A man was hit and killed by a vehicle Friday after he and another man ran out of gas and were walking down the road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
It happened just after midnight Friday in Cherokee County, about one mile south of Blacksburg, the coroner said.
The victim and another man were walking north on West Cherokee Street when a vehicle headed in the same direction struck them from behind, according to the coroner.
The coroner said the men ran out of gas in the vehicle they were traveling near Piney Knob Drive in Gaffney.
Ethan Arrowood, 27, of Grover, North Carolina died at the scene.
The other man was injured, the coroner said.
