Upstate deputy passes away

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office lost a retired deputy over the weekend. Deputies said retired Sgt. Micah Horton passed away Sunday at 11:27 a.m.

Horton started his law enforcement career with the Charleston City Police Department, and he served as a deputy in Spartanburg County for the majority of his career.

While with the sheriff's office, Horton was a K-9 handler, arson investigator and bomb tech, among handling other duties.

Deputies said Horton worked with dedication, compassion, and professionalism. Many counted him as a friend, according to aFacebook post.
