Upstate football game postponed after player tests positive for COVID-19

An Upstate high school football game scheduled for Friday has been postponed after a player tested positive for COVID-19, officials said Tuesday.

The decision to delay the Byrnes High School game at Dorman High School was made Monday night, according to Spartanburg District Five representative Melissa Robinette.

The Byrnes player tested positive as he was attending in-person classes at the school, Robinette said.

Active contact tracing is happening now as officials determine if they need to quarantine any other students, but right now, no one else has tested positive or is showing coronavirus symptoms, Robinette said.
