High traces of COVID-19 found in Clemson University wastewater

The city of Clemson has extended the mandatory mask mandate following the most recent Clemson University COVID-19 wastewater test records showing record setting levels of COVID-19 traces.

According to the records, last week, 3.3 million copies of COVID-19 was detected per liter of water in the Clemson University wastewater system; this is the highest level of COVID detection since testing began in late May.

Wastewater testing is a method used to gauge how many infected individuals are within a given area using a sewer system.

Experts attribute the elevated levels to the return of students on campus in mid-September and a growing rate of infection among them.
