A Spartanburg High School student is accused of bringing a handgun to school, according to Spartanburg District 7 chief communications officer Beth Lancaster.
Lancaster said around 7 p.m. the student's parent notified the school he was concerned his son brought a handgun from home to school. A staff member searched the student's athletic locker and found a small handgun. It was not loaded. There was no ammunition.
According to Lancaster, the student was charged with possession of a firearm on school property and was removed from campus without incident.
