Greenville County HS football game postponed after players test positive

Friday's Riverside High School football games against Spartanburg High School was postponed Tuesday after three Riverside players tested positive, Greenville County Schools officials said.

The district's director of media relations Tim Waller said there are additional players who were identified due to contact tracing. He did not release the number of additional players identified.

District leadership, including the Greenville County Schools director of medical health services, met with school administration and made the decision to delay both junior varsity and varsity football games, Waller said.

The testing dated back to Friday, Oct. 9, Waller said.

All COVID-positive players will be quarantined from school.
