Final day to cast in-person absentee ballot in Greenville County

Today is the final day to cast an absentee ballot in South Carolina.

In Greenville County, the Greenville County Board of Elections office is the only location open to vote Monday. Long lines started to form as early as 6 a.m. at that location.

Greenville County officials have already started the process of preparing mail-in absentee ballots.

On Sunday, about 40 election officials started shuffling through 42,000 mail-in absentee ballots that had been received.

Each removed the outer envelope of the ballot. From there, they placed the inner envelope — which contains the ballot — in a secure and locked location, ready to be counted on Election Day.
