Google's Top Trending Searches Of 2025 Revealed

Google revealed that slain Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was its top trending search of 2025 in its 'Year in Search 2025' results.

'Charlie Kirk' was the top searched term for the year, specifically spiking after his assassination on September 10, and was reported to be the most searched name among "passings" ahead of actor Gene Hackman, musician Ozzy Osbourne, chef Anne Burrell and actress Diane Keaton. Kirk's assassination was also reported to be the third most searched 'news' topic behind the 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act' and 'Government shutdown' and ahead of 'tariffs' and 'No Kings protest.'

New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was the top search result for 'people;' followed by Tyler Robinson, the suspect in Kirk's shooting death; singer D4vd, who canceled his tour after the body of a 14-year-old girl was found inside a Tesla vehicle registered in his name; Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk; and newly elected Pope Leo XIV
