Milo Ventimiglia spoke about meeting country star Trace Adkins when he caught up with Bobby Bones on an episode of The BobbyCast that premiered on Thursday (February 19).

Ventimiglia stars alongside Adkins in I Can Only Imagine 2, a drama set to premiere on Friday (February 20). The film follows “Bart Millard, lead singer of MercyMe, (who) faces a personal crisis at the peak of his success. As his world unravels, he struggles with his beliefs and inner demons while seeking a path through adversity,” per IMDb. The cast also includes Dennis Quaid, Arielle Kebbel, Sophie Skelton, John Michael Finley and others.

“Trace might’ve said to [director] Andy Erwin... ‘I don’t know about this f***ing Hollywood kid,’” Ventimiglia told Bobby Bones. Ventimiglia and Adkins hadn’t interacted much on the set so far. One day, Ventimiglia stopped at Guitar Center in Nashville, and when the cashier asked whether he’d donate to the Fire Relief Fund in California, the actor replied, “absolutely f***ing not.” Ventimiglia, who’d lost his own home in the devastating fires, explained he was skeptical whether the money would actually benefit those impacted.

The next day, Adkins said, “I heard your house burned down. Mine burned down too. …I heard you told some sales assistant to go f*** himself,” he added when asked about the change of heart.

Ventimiglia went on to talk about taking guitar and vocal lessons for his role in the movie, insight into learning his lines, what he learned from working with Will Smith, Gilmore Girls, This Is Us, offered advice to Bobby Bones about fatherhood, and more.
