Cody Johnson apologized to fans as he canceled two upcoming shows.

The reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year said that, per doctor’s orders, he would not be able to take the stage on Wednesday (November 4) in Belfast, Ireland, or on Thursday (November 5) in Dublin, Ireland. Johnson explained he’d been diagnosed with “a viral infection,” and a doctor advised him not to perform. He said in a statement:

“I am really sorry to say that I am going to have to cancel tonight’s show in Belfast and tomorrow’s show in Dublin. I have been doing all I can to make these shows happen but after just seeing a doctor and on their advice, I have been diagnosed with a viral infection and advised not to perform. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause with the late announcement but wanted to do all I could to try and proceed with the shows. I am extremely disappointed not the be able to play as I have been looking forward to the Irish shows for a long time. I will do all I can to come back to Ireland as soon as I can and play these shows for you all. Tickets can be refunded at point of purchase. Thank you for your understanding.”

Commenters on Instagram expressed that they were “so sad” and “gutted” the shows could not go on; however, fans acknowledged the importance of prioritizing health and wished the country star well in his recovery. Those shows were Johnson’s final two performances of the year, according to the dates listed on his website. His next concert is set for February 19, 2027, when he will take the stage at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. See his statement here:
