Comedian Tim Conway passes away at the age of 85

Tim Conway, the bald headed comic actor best known for his work on The Carol Burnett Show, died Tuesday morning in L.A. He was 85 and had been suffering from a brain condition that forced his retirement in recent years.

Characters like the Oldest Man and Mr. Tudball, whose accent was inspired by his Romanian mother, were standouts. So was his portrayal of an inept, just-out-of-school dentist. Well known for ad-libbing on camera, to the surprise of his co-stars, the Ohio native was a three-time Emmy winner.

Conway was a perfect comic match with co-star Harvey Korman. Burnett has often recalled in interviews, "Tim’s goal in life was to destroy Harvey Korman." And destroy he did -- cracking him up on camera numerous times. After the Burnett show left the air, Tim and Harvey often took their antics on tour.

Conway, who also co-starred in the sitcom McHale's Navy and joined several Burnett co-stars in the spinoff series Mama's Family, did well in comic roles for the Disney studio, such as in The Apple Dumpling Gang. He also created the character Dorf for a series of comic golf "instructional" videos.

This is one of my favorite clips from the Carol Burnett Show. I loved how Tim Conway could always make Harvey Korman crack up
