You may recognize Daves Highway from their YouTube channel. They started posting home videos of themselves singing in 2009 and since then have amassed more than 20 million views. They all started singing as little kids, would put on talent shows in front of their parents and started singing at their local church in Jackson, Mississippi. At first, they would just use the family karaoke machine, but as they started to get more serious about performing, they started thinking of doing something more involved. That’s when Zach’s dad taught him how to play guitar at 10 years-old and his two sisters picked up instruments as well.
Bones first discovered Daves Highway at Jake Owen’s Christmas party and was blown away by their harmonies. When they went to Owen’s party, they weren’t expecting to do anything besides hangout while there, but then they got asked to sing. That’s when Bones heard them and thought they were so good he asked them to come onto the show.
Their single, “Why Do We Need Em” reflects on all the times you get your heart broken in life, and asks the question, why do we need them if they always cause so much pain? Right now, Daves Highway are independent artists whose goal is to make good music and put good energy out into the world and while on tour and see where that journey takes them. They have seven more songs they are currently working on with producer Ron Fair, who’s previous work includes artists like Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga.
While they hope to pursue a full-time music career one day, right now to help pay the bills, they have full time jobs. Delaney is a manager of a retail store. Zach builds and delivers industrial sewing machines that has done work with NASA in the past and are currently working with Nordstrom. Erica is a receptionist at a massage therapist studio.
At the end of the interview, Bones surprised the sibling-trio by inviting them to perform at the Bobby Bones and The Raging Idiots Million Dollar Show at the Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday, February 21,2023. They were thrilled and while accepting the invitation asked if their parents could come because it will be a huge family moment.
While in studio, Daves Highway performed a cover of Dolly Parton’s “Joelene” and their single “Why Do We Need ‘Em?”
