Bobby Bones does not want his listeners to be taken advantage of, so he’s always sharing scam alerts to keep them protected!
The first one he shared was a voicemail from the offices of Lyndsy Fonseca informing him that someone was using the name of his podcast to try and scam her. iHeart confirmed the email user that reached out to her isn’t the one they have on file, so she wanted to confirm that she isn’t booked to tape. Bones did not book an interview with her and is not familiar with her work, but this is not the first time this has happened. People have pretended to be him multiple times to try and scam listeners out of money!
Another voicemail told him they received an email from someone with The Bobby Bones Show name in their email address, and they asked her to be on an online podcast, and she wanted to confirm if it was legit or a scam. This was a scam and no one from the show reached out to book an online podcast. Another recent scam he shared was when Ashley Monroe received a message from someone pretending to be Bones manager saying they were looking for artists online for a multi-national brand. He informed me that it was not from him.
Bones shared if you ever get a text from a company with a 5-digit number, that is real because you must register. Make sure to check the email address contacting you because you’ll probably see there are some unofficial letters or numbers. He shared a PSA that if anyone is randomly offering you something online, you should not accept it because it’s most likely a scam!
