Lunchbox is out sick again this week, so The Bobby Bones Show called him to find out what's going on.
Lunchbox believes his sickness this time is “not bad” and thinks the show is exaggerating. However, Bobby pointed out that Lunchbox was absent again, which marks his handful of absents in the past year from illness. This time, Lunchbox went to a MinuteClinic, where he was tested and found out he had COVID again. When asked how he thought he got it, Lunchbox said there were many possibilities, including a recent watch party at his house, his kids, baseball games, or general exposure to people. Bobby questioned whether Lunchbox gets sick often. Lunchbox disagreed, noting he doesn't get sick more than anyone else. Bobby brought up that Lunchbox misses about one show every two weeks and referenced recent illnesses, including strep throat and a past yeast infection in his throat. Lunchbox acknowledged those but still believes that he is not frequently sick, adding that it may stand out more because he admits when he is sick, unlike Amy, who he said comes to work anyway.
Amy asked if anyone in Lunchbox’s family also had COVID. Not that Lunchbox knew, but he quickly turned the conversation's focus to him "getting his flowers." Lunchbox believes he deserved credit for leaving work when he first felt a tickle in his throat, explaining that he wanted to avoid exposing Bobby along with Bobby's baby. Bobby referenced a voicemail Lunchbox had sent, in which he said Bobby would be upset if he came to work sick. Lunchbox clarified that he did not want to risk getting anyone sick. Bobby reminded him and everyone else on the show that they are not allowed in the studio while sick and confirmed that Lunchbox would not be returning this week. Meanwhile, Lunchbox was unsure when he will be coming back to work.
As far as symptoms go, Lunchbox has not lost his voice, taste, or smell, but was very congested with drainage and tired. He went to the MinuteClinic after feeling unusually fatigued, where a staff member suggested testing for COVID. He agreed, and the test came back positive. Bobby noted that he typically takes at-home tests instead. The group joked that Lunchbox frequently visits the MinuteClinic and may even be recognized there. Lunchbox confirmed that a staff member said she had seen him before and that workers at urgent care near his house often ask about him and his family.
Bobby reiterated that Lunchbox would not be returning to the studio for the rest of the week, though Lunchbox suggested he might come back the next day.
