Amy Tested a Popular Airfare Hack and Here's What Happened

Amy Tests Viral Flight Booking Hack and Finds Out If It Really Works

With airfare prices feeling higher than ever, Amy was willing to try just about anything to save a few dollars on an upcoming trip.

After hearing about a viral TikTok travel hack, Amy decided to put it to the test for herself. The claim? Searching for flights on a public library computer could unlock cheaper prices than searching from your personal device.

The theory is that airlines and travel websites may track your browsing history, previous searches, spending habits, and other activity. According to the internet rumor, using a public computer gives you a "clean slate" and could reveal lower fares.

So Amy headed to her local library to find out.

"I went to test it out myself," Amy shared.

After looking up a flight from home, Amy visited a public library and searched for the exact same itinerary on a library computer. She intentionally compared the same flight she had already searched for on her personal laptop.

The result?

It was the exact same price!!

"The same exact price," Amy reported.

Bobby wasn't surprised by the outcome and suggested that many viral hacks gain traction online simply because they sound believable.

"People on TikTok lie," Bobby joked.

Amy admitted she was hoping the trick would work because flight prices have become so expensive. When she showed the airfare she had been tracking, the show agreed the total was much higher than they would have liked to see.

Bobby also pointed out that some people may post videos claiming a hack works without ever actually testing it themselves, simply because those types of videos attract views and engagement.

That's when Amy had an idea: create her own video showing the real results.

Bobby encouraged her to post both sides of the story, joking that she should compare a video claiming she found a huge discount with one showing the truth and see which gets more attention online.

In the end, Amy's experiment didn't uncover any secret savings, but it did offer a reminder that not every viral travel tip works in real life.

So if you've been considering a trip to the public library in hopes of unlocking cheaper airfare, Amy's test suggests you may want to keep your expectations in check.
